Bareback and Saddle Bronc Riding

Bareback and Saddle Bronc riding are two of the most popular events at the rodeo's.  These two events are only for guys.  Let me start by the rules they have to follow when riding.  In saddle bronc riding the saddle has no saddle horn.  The rider must hold on to the reins, which are attached to the halter on the horse.  The rider must have his feet in the stirrups at all times during the ride.  If the cowboy loses the rein or his foot falls out of the stirrup that will result in a no score or disqualification.  Bareback riding is almost the same as Saddle Bronc.  They are a little different. The cowboy rides bareback on the horse. they use a leather rigging.  A rigging is a heavy piece of leather with like a suitcase handle on it.  The rules are they cannot touch themselves or the horse with and part of there body, otherwise they will be disqualified or receive a no score.  Cowboys are judged on their control of the horse.  Half the cowboy and half the horse is judged on their moving action.

My grandpa is in the hall of fame for bareback riding.  There are a lot of people who are really good at these two events.  I'm going to list a few people and tell you one of there accomplishments.

  1. Interesting blog! Belle Fourche is home to two of the best Bareback Riders of all time; Marvin and Mark Garrett! I suggest that you create some kind of blog talking about cowboys around the area, such as Jesse Bail, Mark Garrett, Marvin Garrett, Chad Ferley, J.J. Elshere, etc..
